Frequently asked questions

Is the Public edition really free?

Yes. Every module and lookup is published under the Apache License 2.0 in our public GitHub organisation, 90 days after we first publish it. You can use, change and redistribute it under that licence.

What does the Private edition add?

Delivery into your own GitHub organisation, new provider versions as soon as we publish them, packages, every version you have used kept available, and support with a reply target that depends on your plan.

Do I need Terragrunt?

No. The modules are ordinary OpenTofu and Terraform modules; Terragrunt is how we recommend wiring them together. See Getting started for both.

Does it work with Terraform as well as OpenTofu?

We build and test every module with OpenTofu. They are plain HCL and generally work with recent versions of Terraform too, but OpenTofu is what we test against.

Who reviews what gets applied?

You do. The modules are the starting point, and you decide what changes are made to your infrastructure, so review every plan before you apply it.

What happens if I stop paying?

The service stops delivering new versions, and the repositories in your organisation keep working exactly as they are. If the subscription is not renewed within 90 days, the repositories the service created are deleted, so take copies of anything you want to keep. The terms of service have the details.
